What is Achilles Tendonitis?
Achilles tendonitis is the inflammation of the Achilles tendon — the thick band that connects your calf muscles to your heel bone. It often develops from overuse, sudden increases in activity, or tight calf muscles. Common symptoms include pain, stiffness, or swelling at the back of the heel, especially after exercise or prolonged activity. Left untreated, it can progress into chronic pain, tendon degeneration, or even rupture.
