What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain, triggered by inflammation of the plantar fascia—a thick ligament connecting your heel bone to your toes. The pain often feels like a sharp, stabbing sensation near the heel, but sometimes into the arch, especially first thing in the morning or after long periods of rest.
Contributing factors include repetitive stress, unsupportive shoes, excess weight, and long hours on your feet. Left untreated, plantar fasciitis can become chronic and interfere with your ability to move comfortably through daily life.
